Are you qualified?

Basic qualifications that you need to have

  1. you are a licensed Registered Nurse in the Philippines and of good standing.

  2. you have at least a relevant 24 MONTHS PAID POST REGISTRATION WORK EXPERIENCE (as recommended by NCNZ - so that you will have a good chance of securing a slot for CAP and work afterwards) --or email the NCNZ to verify.
  3. you are of good health and character
  4. you have an IELTS score of 7.0 in all areas
then if you are qualified then read on.............

a letter from NCNZ re Work Experience Requirement (Oct 2010)

It is recommended that you have at least 2 years work experience working as a
registered nurse before applying for New Zealand registration as this will help with
employment prospects. Also if you are required to complete a competence
assessment programme, many of the competence assessment programme providers
will not enrol anyone who does not have 2 years work experience. It is also getting
harder to get into the programmes because the demand is high. It is preferable
that you are in paid employment as a registered nurse working in a clinical setting
.

What about if my family, including me, is already a permanent resident of NZ. Im a fresh graduate and currently I am reviewing for the IELTS exam while waiting for the board exam results. My family is already there and Im left here to finish the IELTS exam. Do I need the same work experience requirement here in the Philippines before going to NZ eventhough I am already a PR?

Thank u.

How about working as a nursing assistant in NZ eventhough I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines? Is it possible that I can be a registered nurse there afterwards?

nurse2nz said...

to anonymous : just make sure that when you start your application , you submit a Certificate of Employment with the 12 months work experience.

nurse2nz said...

to angelyap: sad to say that you still need to comply with the one year work experience requriement , event if you are already a PR visa holder ... and please check the forum regularly , coz there seems to be problem for 2nd coursers (if you are one) applying w/ the NCNZ.

to rus: how would you work as a nurse assistant? you can still register as a RN in NZ , but you still have to satisfy all requirements of NCNZ, IELTS 7.0 in all areas and at least 12 months work experience as a RN.

Hi nurse2nz! on your comment last July 12, 2008 you mentioned that "there seems to be a problem for 2nd coursers applying with the NCNZ". What specifically is the problem if you know about it?

I am a 2nd courser and on the way to complying their one year post registration experience.

Thank you so much for your help~

hi, just want to ask about the required work experience.. do you think they would consider "volunteer hospital experience"? thanks.

about the 'post-registration experience,' goes in any setting include being a clinical instructor? does it also mean ANY work experience or it has to be related? does the experience mean paid work, like volunteer hospital experience is not counted?

Anonymous said...

hi there...How about if you are a Clinical Instructor? Can this be considered as a post-registration experience? Thank you so much. hope to hear from you.

Good day to the author of this blog, i'm quite confused with the "one year post-registration work experience". Hope you can help.
I took my Licensure Exam last June 2008, the result came in July 24 and fortunately I passed. I began working as a STAFF ER Nurse on July31 and is still presently employed.
Naka-indicate po sa License & Board Certificate ko that my REGISTRATION DATE as NURSE was September 11, 2008 . All of my other documents are ready. I'm planning to forward it to the NZ Council this month.
Am I still eligible to apply this month or shall I wait for Sept.11,09 to send it? Please Help.

arjay,

u can now start your application,, lately NCNZ accepted some applicants with only 6 months of work experience

gusto ko lang poh malaman if ilang hours yung experience na tinatanggap ng nursing council. kasi almost 1 yr na poh ang experience ko sa isang psych facility.
